Thrice-crowned MVP Jokic suffers a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.
Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic endured a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee when the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half following an accidental coming together with team-mate Jones.
His teammate stepped on the foot of Jokic, and he instantly collapsed to the ground grabbing his knee.
The veteran player, who is leading the league season in boards and assists, recorded 21 points and eight dimes in the contest prior to sustaining the injury.
He is scheduled for an scan on the following day to determine the seriousness of the problem.
"Immediately, Jokic realized he was hurt," stated Denver coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Any player that gets hurt, that's tough to see, especially a player as special as Jokic. More information will come tomorrow."
"The team will adjust together. Clearly, at this moment, I'm more worried just about him as a person and the letdown of facing a situation of that nature."
