Heavy Rains Aggravate Circumstances for Displaced Residents of Gaza, UN Caution

Nearly 55,000 homes have reportedly been harmed by the rains, with their items and shelters destroyed.

Heavy storms over the recent period have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the vast number of displaced civilians in the territory, as reported by aid organizations.

"Terrible" Night Creates Grave Dangers

A official detailed the weather overnight as "awful", with rain so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the terrain.

"These conditions was exceptionally horrendous for the people. The downpours were so powerful... And the gales were so forceful," stated the spokesperson.

There is extreme concern that young ones sheltering in makeshift shelters in wet clothing will succumb to hypothermia and various illnesses.

Casualties and Widespread Loss

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in building collapses caused by the storms.

Additional accounts put a higher fatality count. Officials said that numerous structures had collapsed completely and scores had sustained partial collapse.

Assistance Distribution Considered Not Enough

Groups have stepped up shipments of shelter, bedding and garments since the ceasefire started, but they have said there is still not enough aid entering.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to provide that aid and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the necessities is so vast that we continue to see thousands of individuals and minors who are really struggling each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.

Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Plans

The second phase of the agreement includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.

Relief bodies have stressed the need for "greater and continuous aid to address urgent and future needs."

The conflict was initiated by an assault in late 2023. Subsequent campaigns have resulted in a significant number of fatalities in the territory, as per official data.
