She opens by giving background to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.

But he adds: "There remains real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."

Another previous consultant British Broadcasting Corporation consultant questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the BBC extremely earnestly and that it operates a "persistent practice and active debate" across evolving and intricate topics.

"Was the BBC willing to conduct a genuine discussion and exchange and act accordingly?" she questions. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
