A charity drive is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of talented individuals. The track features a combination of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the initiative have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”

The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
