Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with results this poor.”

He finished, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
